On Sunday morning, Amitabh Bachchan donned the hat of a cricket commentator during the World Cup match between India and Pakistan at Adelaide, Australia. This was part of integration between TV channel Star Sports and the producers of Big B's recent film Shamitabh.
Amitabh played a voice artist in R Balki's Shamitabh that also starred Dhanush and Akshara Haasan in pivotal roles.
The 72-year-old actor was in the commentary box alongside Arun Lal, Rahul Dravid and Kapil Dev among others.
The Bollywood star shared a video on Facebook.
Bachchan's impressive debut as a cricket commentator earned him plaudits from several Bollywood stars.
Sidharth Malhotra tweeted, "Commentary never sound so impactful @SrBachchan live on #IndvsPak superb (sic)."
"Amitabh Bachchan on star sports live - what else do you want - #IndVsPak @SrBachchan," actor Riteish Deshmukh posted.
Singer Arjit Singh wrote on Twitter, "Watching India vs Pak cricket match... @SrBachchan Sir is really a good commentator.."
Praising Bachchan's commentary, Alia Bhatt tweeted, "Okay even I am up for the match... So you can't take the Indian out of an #IndvsPak match after all!! Oh and you gotta love @SrBachchan."
"What a great morning seeing the India Pakistan match and hearing @SrBachchan commentate," Shahid Kapoor tweeted.
The 2015 Cricket World Cup is jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from February 14 to March 29. India are the defending champions, having won the tournament in 2011.
