While others play safe, preferring to star only opposite established actresses, Salman Khan has never hesitated in casting newcomers. Of course, you can’t deny that the man has an eye for the prettiest faces. With conjecture still on over Salman’s leading lady in brother Sohail’s film, Mental, the latest name in the reckoning is that of 2012 Bigg Boss contestant and model-actor Karishma Kotak.
The Khan brothers, it seems, are hunting for a fresh face for the female lead. Sources say Sohail has been conducting auditions for the past few days. Karishma also auditioned for the part last week. Although the final name is yet to be confirmed, Karishma could well be one of the strong contenders.
"It was Salman’s idea to get Karishma to audition. He was impressed with her when she was on Bigg Boss. The Khans are happy with her, but the final decision will be taken in 10 days. Since the film goes on the floors in February (after Salman is back from the US after a medical treatment), they have to decide soon," says an insider. A few days ago, HT Café also reported that south actor Daisy Shah auditioned for the film.
Karishma acted in a Telugu hit, Shankar Dada Zindabad (the 2007 film is a remake of Lage Raho Munna Bhai) and the almost-unheard-of Bollywood film, Season’s Greetings (2010). She was last seen in the 2010 flop, Glamour. She also hosted TV shows such as The Karisma Show, Spa Diaries and It’s In. Incidentally, she was also one of the few invited to Salman’s birthday party last year.
When contacted, Karishma evaded commenting by saying, "As of now, nothing has happened. So I don’t know what to say." Sohail, despite repeated attempts, remained unavailable for a comment.
