Sajid Khan describes himself as a huge action movie buff and after a couple of comic capers he is finally getting a chance to direct daredevil stunts for the Housefull sequel. “I’m designing them myself and will give the hardcore action filmmakers a run for their money,” he claims. One of the film’s highlights will feature John Abraham on a Harley Davidson. And he will ride the bike along the sides of one of London’s iconic Big Red Buses before making a perfect landing.
“It’s a two-second take, but it will require weeks of training because I don’t want to use computer gimmicks. I want him to do it for real and am getting in touch with one of the bikers who used to perform the Maut ka kuawa act at travelling circuses. He has since retired, but having ridden around the rim of the Well of Death he would be perfect to show John how to do it,” reasons Sajid, admitting that John is currently clueless about these plans. “He knows that something spectacular is in line and trusts me to give the audience some heart-in-the-mouth moments.”.
“You don’t see such ‘herogiri’ in films now, Dabanng was the exception and that’s why it was such a blockbuster,” says the director, who intends to shoot the scene over 10 to 15 days on a set either in Mumbai or London that will cost around Rs 3 crore. The scene will also star ‘gora’ (white) fighters along with Indians. “I’ve discussed the scene with John, Riteish and Rahul, but Akshay’s still in the dark. He’ll carry it off though, he’s a superhero and action is his forte,” he says.
