Bipasha Basu does not want to promote Humshakals: Sajid Khan

What happens when three funny men, two pretty ladies and their gang leader come over for a no-holds-barred chat on a sultry summer afternoon?

There are therapeutic peals of laughter — the best way to drive away those Monday blues.

The team of Humshakals — Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Kapoor, along with Esha Gupta, Tamanna Bhatia, and the film’s director Sajid Khan, sent the winners of HT City’s Stars in the City contest in a tizzy when they came to HT House.

Right from pulling leg to talking about their triple-role flick that releases on Friday, Sajid and his team had the audience all ears.

"Usually in double-role films, one of the twins is rich, the other one may be a tapori etc. But here, Sajid has given all of us three different characters, and named us alphabetically ... so the same name but with the suffix A, B and C. A is an ordinary guy, B is brain-damaged and C is the effiminate kind ... so they all are identical yet different. It was liberating to act in these roles," explained Saif Ali Khan, while Sajid added, "We can promise, it’ll be very different from what you’ve seen so far!"

Meanwhile, Saif, Riteish and Ram’s girlie act is already a hit, and Esha spilled the beans about Riteish stealing her makeup artist for it.

Actor Bipasha Basu, who’s also a part of the film, was conspicuous by her absence, and we didn’t want to leave the opportunity to prod Sajid about it. However, not one to be taken off guard, he replied with a straight face, "Initially, my producer told me that Bipasha is unwell... I don’t think she wants to promote the film... and I’ve learnt that in the past also, she has not promoted multi-starrer films."

We also asked Sajid about his linkup rumours with

, and he smiled at her, saying, "She’s like my kid sister". Saif was quick to comment: "How boring!"

To perfect his

girly act

in the film, Riteish wore his wife Genelia D’Souza’s skirt, and was sure he "wore it better". We asked Saif if he, too, borrowed wife Kareena Kapoor Khan’s dresses, and he exclaimed: "Oh no, I’m like XL and she’s XS."

In the end, we challenged the cast with a round of dumb charades and a very sporting Riteish won it for his team, leaving the room in splits with his funny act.
