Veteran actor Sridevi’s birthday this year will be very special, as the makers of her comeback film, English Vinglish, have decided to launch the first theatrical promo of the movie on August 13.
The film has been produced by R Balki and directed by his wife Gauri Shinde.
“It’s really sweet of Balki and Gauri to decide to launch the first theatrical promo on my birthday,” says Sridevi, who will turn 49 next week.
Gauri says, “English Vinglish is a special film for Sridevi; and what better occasion than her birthday to launch the trailer?”
Ask Sridevi who she is expecting at the promo launch and she says, “My sister Srilatha and my cousins are flying to Mumbai on that day, so they will be present at the event as well. It will be nice to have the promo launched with my family members there.”
However, the actor, who is returning to the silver screen 12 long years after her last film, Judaai (1997), will miss her late mother, Rajeshwari, and late father Ayyappan.
“I wish my mom and dad were also there. They’ll wish me from heaven,” she says.
English Vinglish will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival later this year and is expected to hit theaters in India on September 21.
