BO report: At Rs 50 crore, Main Tera Hero inching close to Queen's record

Different genres but both managed to bring in the money at ticket windows in last two months. Main Tera Hero starring Varun Dhawan is inching close to Rs 50-crore benchmark while Queen's already minted Rs 60 crore.

is steadily inching towards Rs 50-crore benchmark on the ticket windows.



After making around Rs 38.48 crore in the first week, this David Dhawan directorial venture continued to earn money at the box office.



Meanwhile,

, which released on March 7, continues to run across the country. The Vikas Bahl-directorial venture has garnered Rs 60 crore on the ticket windows.



In March and April, these two have been the biggest grosser.



Queen was made on an estimated budget of Rs 12.5 crore. Main Tera Hero, on the other hand, had an estimated budget of Rs 40 crore.



The second week earnings of Main Tera Hero stands at Rs 7.50 crore, making a total collection of Rs 45.98 crore in two weeks of the release.



The film made opening collections of Rs 6.60 crore and further picked up business through the weekend with Rs 8.03 crore and 8.10 crore on Saturday and Sunday.




The 3D animated musical adventure-comedy film Rio 2 opened to good start, earning Rs 4 crore in the opening weekend.



Amitabh Bachchan-Parth Bhalero-starrer Bhoothnath Returns, which hit the theatres last Friday, earned Rs 18.02 crore over the weekend.
