David Dhawan's controversial remake Chashme Baddoor has started with good numbers at the box office. On it's second day the film is expected to cross Rs 5.5 crore, says Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh.

Adarsh tweeted this morning saying: "#ChashmeBaddoor *early estimates* should cross 5.5 cr. May even touch 6 cr. Data still pouring in. Super start!"

He also posted on Twitter that the film is off to a super start in India. "North India and Mumbai circuits leading. Even mass-dominated belt very good!", he wrote.

Anupama Chopra's review: Chashme Buddoor
David Dhawan and Chashme Buddoor are inherently a mismatch. He is the creator of a specific kind of crass comedy, which, at its best, works as zany, energetic, disposable entertainment. Chashme Buddoor, on the other hand, is a classic, a film with a genuine sweetness.

Even 32 years after release, its moments are memorable. How can you forget Miss Chamko, or the two predatory friends constantly on the lookout for ‘shikaar’? Their attempts to get girls were so endearingly clumsy that the term never even seemed offensive. The original film had a certain lightness of being. The remake is loud and inevitably leaden. David and his writers, Renuka Kunzru and Farhad-Sajid, update it by making it in-your-face. FULL REVIEW

Critics' review: Chashme Baddoor is an insult to the classic

David Dhawan’s Chashme Baddoor is a raggedy bag of gags as flimsy as the boxers that the three buddies strut around in – they are full of colour all right but add little value to the canvas. Intended to be a breezy comic romp, the film is woefully short of wind in its sails despite all the bluff and bluster that it whips up. CRITICS' REPORT

CLASSIC! Original Chashme Buddoor
Even as David Dhawan gears up for the release of his Chashme Baddoor, the original rom-com is all set to be released digitally. Are you still in love with Farooq Sheikh, the original Sidharth and Miss Chamko - Deepti Naval? Take a look at these pics from the Sai Paranjpye movie. SNEAK PEEK

Shooting for Chashme Baddoor was like a picnic: Taapsee Pannu

Taapsee Pannu, who makes her Bollywood debut with Chashme Buddoor remake, says that shooting for David Dhawan-directed film was so much fun that she and her co-star felt they were on a picnic.

“It was an entertainment zone. We shot in Goa and it was like a picnic, a paid holiday for us,” READ STORY
