Anorexia’s out, jiggly wiggly’s in. Vidya Balan shows it, Bebo throws it and Veena Malik’s also going that way. Bollywood’s divas are fast ditching the size-zero diktat for generous amounts of flab, and no, they aren’t shying away from showing it off.

While Balan has gorged on to portray Southern sex siren Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture, Kapoor has let her popular 'size-zero' figure go for good. "Today, I am curvier and I think my fans like me that way ... I think I am looking like a Hindi film heroine now," Bebo had said.

VidyaTrade analyst Atul Mohan says it is 'deliberate' on their end to add on. "Being lean and size zero is over and heroines are now deliberately putting on a little weight because that is what appeals to their male fans. Look at Silk Smitha, she was a little plump herself and to get into the character, Vidya had to look fleshy and achieve a fuller figure which has undoubtedly drawn a lot of eye balls," says Mohan. Fans are also going ooh la la about it. "I think those love handles are a welcome change from the lean and mean girls on screen," says Rohan Sood, 17.

Ad filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar, however, disagrees: "Flab is definitely not in and it'll never be. Tastes have changed now. And Vidya put on weight because she wanted to be true to her character of Silk Smitha, who was known as ‘thunder thighs’. While Kareena is not fat, she’s now fit and looks fab.”
