Children often follow in their parents’ footsteps. So, it’s not surprising that award-winning director, Hansal Mehta’s son, Jai, has dreams of donning the director’s hat one day.

For now, the youngster is assisting his father on his upcoming film, starring Manoj Bajpayee and Rajkummar Rao.

An industry insider reveals, "Jai aspires to be a film director. He is currently in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, making sure that everything related to his father’s new film is under control. He has been part of the project since its inception and has been involved in every stage of its making — from the recce to all the other production aspects. Earlier, Jai even briefly assisted Hansal on both Shahid (2012) and CityLights (2014)."

When contacted, Hansal confirmed the news, saying, "What more can a father want than to see his son so passionately immersed in the same craft as his? I hope Jai goes out there and soon makes something on his own. He’s got terrific stories to tell."
