In the past decade Bollywood music has come a long way — unique compositions, signature moves, a spurt in choreographers and more actors who can cut the rug. Hrithik Roshan proved that actors can be great dancers with his excellent moves in his debut film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. In the following years the songs became more youthful and humable.
The term Bollywood music was coined in this decade with many dance schools even teaching this form of dancing. It became a norm to have an item number in every film and since Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s scintillating performance in Kajra Re, filmmakers are thronged with requests from actors for special songs.
Aamir Khan’s songs, from Dil Chahta Hai to Rang De Basanti till 3 Idiots, have become anthems for the youth. Last year Munni and Sheila ruled the chartbusters and the coming year too promises a lot of such gyrating number for the audience to enjoy.

On campuses countrywide, the term the term All Izz Well coined by director Rajkumar Hirani is still used to get out of sticky situations.

The song from Abbas Tyrewala’s film is a preferred caller tune even 3 years after the film’s release. Critics said it ruled billboards because of its simplicity and youth. Picturised on newbies Imran Khan and Genelia D'Souza, the song won AR Rahman, the best music director award that year.

Film-maker Farah Khan got 30 bollywood stars to shake a leg in this number from her superhit film. These include Salman Khan, Rani Mukerji, Priyanka Chopra, Shilpa Shetty and Shabana Azmi, including Shah Rukh himself, the actor of the film. A host of singers had sung the song with music by Vishal-Shekhar.
Crazy Kiya Re

The song, sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and picturised on Aishwarya Bachchan became a rage soon after it hit screens in November. Vaibhavi Merchant’s choreography and music composer Pritam’s score made the song the pick of all DJs at new year bashes in the country that year.

Starting from bike horns to doorbells, the dhoommachale tune became a rage. So much so that Thai-American singer Tata Young even did an Hinglish version of the song that became equally popular. Sunidhi Chauhan sang the original track while Pritam Chakraborty gave the music.
