Bollywood lauds India's date with the red planet

Even as India's Mars mission created history on Wednesday, Bollywood's come out in full force by tweeting congratulatory messages to the nation. Led by Amitabh Bachchan, a number of other stars including Akshay Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Anupam Kher, among others, expressed happiness on the stupendous achievement.

"#Mangalyaan ... Our scientists have achieved what others could not .. Badhai, Pyaar, Sneh, Abhinandan, aur Jai jai kaar !! MOM !! #Mangalyaan , India's Mars mission..," Amitabh Bachchan Tweeted. "Mars is Mangal, Tuesday .. and what timing and planning to have achieved it on a Tuesday," he added.

Big B again tweeted: "#Mangalyaan..Bharat Mata ki Jai !! Historic ! Only country to have succeeded in first attempt, on budget less than Hollywood film!"

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar also congratulated the scientists involved in the mission: "Namaskar. Aaj hum sab Bharatvaasiyo'n ke liye bohot hi khushi aur gaurav ka din hai , humare ISRO ke Vigyaaniko'n ne Ek chamatkar kar dikhaaya hai. Humara bhartiya mangal Yaan Mangal grah ki Kaksha me pohoch gaya hai. Main ISRO ke saare Vaigyaniko'n ka abhinandan karti hun aur unki apar Lagan aur mehenat ko koti koti pranam karti hun .Jai Hind. Vande Mataram."

Actor Anupam Kher cheered the mission tweeting, "#Mangalyaan ZINDABAAD.:)"

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar expressed his pride at the achievement: "Woke up to the great news of #Mangalyaan, the cheapest Mars mission ever! What a great achievement. Congrats @ISRO #ProudIndian"

Actor Sridevi tweeted, "I congratulate India and #ISRO on the sucessful mission to Mars. #Mangalyaan #MissionMars #MarsMission."

Haider actor Shahid Kapoor tweeted his salute to the Indian mission: "Mangalayan reaches Mars on 1st attempt . Big respect . #proudindian."

Actor-director Farhan Akhtar tweeted, "Kudos to ISRO on their first and successful Mars Mission, Mangalyaan. #proud #ReachForTheSky".

Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor wrote, "Mangal mangal..#Mangalyaan.. Massive achievement for #ISRO Jai hind!"

Actor-director Riteish Deshmukh congratulated the scientists behind the mission: "#Mangalyaan Every Indian should be proud of this achievement. Congratulations team @isro"

The actor also added, "The cost of #Mangalyaan is Rs 7/km -lesser than basic auto rickshaw fare #JustHeard".

TV actor Odie Khan rejoiced the Mars mission with a comic twist on his Facebook page, "Now that the Mangalyaan has reach Mars, have they found the MARD species there? On a serious note, what a incredible achievement by ISRO."
