Vaani Kapoor made her debut in Shuddh Desi Romance (SDR) this year, but despite being offered several Bollywood films, the actor hasn’t signed any of them. Her only film in hand is Aaha Kalyanam, the Tamil remake of Band Baaja Baaraat (2010).

Apparently, this move comes on the instruction of producer Aditya Chopra, who has “something big” planned for her. An industry insider says, “Aditya has told Vaani to stay away from new projects, even if it means sitting at home for six months. He feels that she deserves a big film as her second venture. He is busy planning it right now.”

In all likelihood, the big-ticket project will be announced “sometime next year”. The insider adds, “The idea is to not let her get too much exposure before he announces that film. That’s why, although she has been getting many offers, she is turning them all down.” Aaha Kalyanam is expected to release next month. “After that, Vaani will take a short break before Aditya announces the film. That should happen in the first half of 2014,” says the insider.

Meanwhile, Vaani’s SDR co-stars are juggling multiple projects. While Parineeti Chopra has Hasee Toh Phasee, Kill Dil and Daawat-E-Ishq coming up, Sushant Singh Rajput is busy with Paani and Detective Byomkesh Bakshy.
