It’s the season for the femme fatale. While Angelina Jolie’s spy thriller Salt is still fresh in public memory, our actresses, too, have their own secret service agendas.
Kareena Kapoor plays a sassy spy in Agent Vinod, scheduled to release in March 2011. Buzz also has it that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been approached to play an India-born British spy in a Hollywood flick. Actress Kangna Ranaut has also confirmed that she will be playing an intelligence officer in the upcoming film, Game, starring Abhishek Bachchan.
Kareena, who reportedly plays a Pakistani spy in Agent Vinod, said, “I am working on various looks for the film. It’s something I haven’t attempted before.”
Kangna is equally excited. “I play a British secret agent in it. No stunts because she’s an intelligence officer, not a police inspector and no romance because she is like one of the boys,” Ranaut says.
So, will the character she play have blonde hair and blue eyes, as is typical of espionage agents? Not for Kangna, who says it’s anyway easy for her to pass off as a foreigner. “I’m mistaken for a foreigner — whether it’s France or Italy. It’s hard convincing people that I’m an Indian girl.”
