Trust Anurag Kashyap for creating highly melodramatic scenes and the auteur is once again ready to enthrall his fans in Bombay Velvet. The makers have released the second trailer of the film and it's high on emotions.

Ranbir Kapoor plays a small-time but ambitious gangster Johnny Balraj who finds a worthy patron in Khambata (Karan Johar). Together they set out to rule Bombay but they drift apart when a Jazz singer Rosie (Anushka Sharma) enters the frame.

Watch: Bombay Velvet trailer

The film seems like a tale of faith, friendship and betrayal, and the trailer promises a believable milieu. However, it doesn't appear as dark as Kashyap's other films.

All eyes will be on Karan Johar who is playing a negative role in the film, contrary to his popular image of a witty and sarcastic filmmaker, but is he ready for the litmus test?

The film is set to hit the screens on May 15, 2015.
