Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor visited the HT House on Wednesday along with the cast of his upcoming film, Kai Po Che, including actors Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh, Raj Kumar and Amrita Puri, along with Manish Hari Prasad, creative director of Studios Disney UTV.
Talking about the film, which is an adaptation of author Chetan Bhagat’s book, The 3 Mistakes of my Life, Kapoor says, “In Kai Po Che, I have retained 50% of the book and for the other 50%, I have changed to suit its cinematic adaptation.”
Kapoor, who debuted as director with Rock On in 2008, joked that if a “certain film” (3 Idiots) did not give Bhagat credit and became a blockbuster, they too won’t give him credit. However, later he said, “On a serious note, it is Chetan’s book and he will be given due credit.”
When asked why he chose to make a film with newcomers, Kapoor said, “The story demanded new faces. These guys are versatile, non-celebral and volatile.”
Talking about her co-stars, Amrita said, “We had great fun on the sets. Once, I saw Amit and Raj Kumar doing Govinda style dance in front of the mirror. They always played silly pranks on me.”
Sushant said, “I hope the story and the bond that we formed comes across in the film and connects with everyone.”
So, were there any fights on the sets? “During the film, Sushant and I had huge cat fights,” Amit joked.
