Only basic security was there,” says a source. A volleyball scene was also shot in the college ground. Few parts of the movie were shot in St Stephen’s College.“I got a adrenaline attack when I got the opportunity to not only see but even get a picture clicked with Ranbir. I instantly sent them to all my friends through my cell phone. It was a dream come true for me,” says Ayushi Gupta of Hindu College.

It was fabulous to be actually getting into that zone because the way these characters speak the kind of places where they hang out — it all adds
up to the distinct flavour of Delhi. Also, I had never been to the campus before. The portions that we shot in the DU were fun,” says Ranveer.

The feel-good factor of studying in the college increases because people from other colleges come and ask about the shoots and similar things. It was the Hansraj College where many parts of this film were shot in March, 2009. “Most directors, who shot for their films in the college, are our own students and feel happy shooting here. They go down the memory lane and give our present students encouragement. It’s an honour when they come back to the college. Also it brings fame to the college,” says college principal V K Kwatra. For Sachin Sharma, president of the student’s union, it was a proud feeling to be a part of a college where this iconic film was shot. “When I entered the college, I was proud to know that I am going to study in a college where Bollywood movies are shot frequently. My seniors showed me the classes where Dev D was filmed. I am sure it must have been a proud moment for them as well as the college authorities,” he says.
