Filmmaker Onir, whose flick I AM grabbed the National Award, was recently in the capital to promote his latest venture Chauranga along with the star-cast of the film. When asked whether he is eyeing a National Award for this film as well, Onir said, “Yes, I think this film deserves a national award.”

Chauranga, which won Golden Gateway of India Award for Best Film (India Gold 2014) at the 16th Mumbai Film Festival , is inspired from a real-life story based on the caste system in a village.

The flick is all set to hit the theatres on January 8, 2016 and will clash with Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar starrer Wazir at the domestic box-office.
