After winning hearts as a best-selling author, Chetan Bhagat wants to try his luck behind the camera. Reportedly he is all set to assist Vishal Bhardwaj in the film adaptation of his novel 2 States.
Following the success of 3 Idiots, which was based on his book, Five Point Someone, the author has helped in writing screenplays for film adaptations of his novels One Night At The Call Centre and The 3 Mistakes Of My Life.
Not content with only writing screenplays, Bhagat is keen to get behind the camera, "I am in touch with Vishal Bhardwaj," says Bhagat, "And I will definitely be collaborating on the script of 2 States. Vishal is a very gifted filmmaker. And if he will allow me, I would definitely like to learn direction from him," reports Mumbai Mirror.
"It's being produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. They're busy with Farhan's Don 2 and other projects. I am sure it will be made in good time," he adds.Commending the film director, Bhagat tells the tabloid, "Bhardwaj has made movies out of other literary works and has adapted them very successfully to the screen. Just how far he would like me to be involved with the screenplay of 2 States will depend on him."
Let's hope that the director-writer's camaraderie doesn't take an ugly turn like the 3 Idiots row.
