Chetna director BR Ishara passes away

Filmmaker and screenwriter BR Ishara passed away early on July 25 morning at Criticare Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for tuberculosis.

Filmmaker and screenwriter BR Ishara passed away early on July 25 morning at Criticare Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for tuberculosis. Made famous by the film Chetna, he had 34 movies to his credit and was known to deal with realistic and bold issues.

He was also famous for promoting new talent. While his best-known films were made in the ’70s, his last, Hukumnama, was made in 1996.

Paying tribute to the filmmaker on the popular social networking site Twitter, Amitabh Bachchan said: “BR Ishara directed and made ‘Ek Nazar’ with Jaya and me before our marriage... some of the most melodious music of LP...(sic).”
