Stand-up comic Kapil Sharma, whose won three consecutive seasons of Comedy Circus, will make his Bollywood film debut this year. The movie titled, It’s My Life, is directed by Anees Bazmee and stars Harman Baweja and Genelia D’Souza. The comedian plays the role of Pyaare, the eldest son of Nana Patekar in the movie.

Says Kapil, “While making Welcome in 2007, Anees Bazmee had seen me in one of the acts of the Laughter Challenge Grand Finale. He liked my performance and approached me to work with him at that time. Unfortunately, I was in the US then. He was relentless and a few years later approached me again when he was casting for It’s My Life. I feel honoured to be working in such a big production.”

In the past, Kapil has also won the third season of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. He is known for his spoof-characters like Lala Roshan Lal and Shamsher Singh, an officer in the Punjab Police force. Later he also won Comedy Circus Ke Super Stars, Comedy Circus Ka Jadoo and Jubilee Comedy Circus along with Krushna Abhishek and Rajiv Nigam. “If my role in It’s My Life is appreciated, there would be no looking back. I am spontaneous by nature, so I go with the situation at a given point of time,” says Kapil, on making Bollywood his next career option.

“I have been approached by other filmmakers as well. However nothing is confirmed at the moment and I have other professional commitments, which need to be completed,” he adds. Though his role in It’s My Life is a cameo, Kapil surfaces repeatedly in the film. “I am looking forward to working in more films in the long run. ‘Aagey chal ke PCO thodi na kholni hai,’ (Who wants to open a PCO later in life).”
