Vidyut Jammwal’s daredevil stunts and Hugh Jackman’s claws are clashing at the box office. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted opening day figures of both films on Saturday.
Commando 2, the action sequel starring Jammwal and Adah Sharma opened with Rs 5 crore while Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine came in just shy of that number with Rs 4.75 crore. Adarsh expects it to hold strong over the weekend.
#Commando2 Fri ₹ 5.14 cr. India biz... Hindi + Tamil + Telugu versions.— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) March 4, 2017
#Logan Fri ₹ 4.75 cr. India biz. All versions... Expecting a healthy weekend number.— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) March 4, 2017
It should be noted that Commando had a wider release than Logan. It played on 2200 screens over the weekend.
Commando producer Vipul Shah said in a statement, “It’s opened bigger and better than so many big star cast films, and that shows the level of acceptance of the film and Vidyut. It’s very difficult to surpass the expectations in a sequel. ‘Commando 2’ seems to have done that and the audience is really enjoying the film. We all are extremely happy that the film has opened so well.”
