She dazzled everyone with her acting debut in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Om Shanti Om. And now, seven years later, Deepika Padukone is apparently set to team up with SRK again in Chennai Express, produced by UTV Motion Pictures.
“Once back from Turkey (where she’s shooting Race 2), she is expected to sign on the dotted line. Deepika was always on our mind considering she is a big star now and also hasn’t teamed up with SRK since OSO. So it works out well that we are coming back with OSO team,” says an insider.
Apparently, at the start, director Rohit Shetty had discussed the film with Kareena, but things didn’t materialise. Later, Kat was also believed to be in the fray.
“Don’t forget she is already working with SRK in Yashji’s (Chopra) film. Plus, her dates could have been an issue since she will soon start work on Dhoom 3,” adds the insider.
Shetty’s action-comedy is expected to hit the floors around October.
“By that time, Deepika would’ve wrapped up Race 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,” adds the insider.
Despite repeated attempts, Rohit couldn’t be reached. UTV’s Siddharth Roy Kapoor chose not to comment.
