Deepika Padukone's Dum Maaro Dum hogged newsprint for more than one reasons. Be it Deepika's hot outfit, or the controversial lyrics, the song overshadowed the film and its lead star Abhishek Bachchan.

After a hit film and numerous magazine covers, it looks like 2012 has been a great year for Deepika Padukone. The actor not only got accolades for her role in Cocktail, but also got some cool projects added to her kitty following the Homi Adajania release. And now, busy basking in the glory of the praise, Deepika is being hounded by numerous award shows to dance to the film’s hit song ‘Angrezi beat’.

A source says, “Deepika was praised not only for her acting skills, but also for her look in Cocktail. It also gave her the hit number ‘Angrezi beat’.” With award season round the corner, she seems to be in a lot of demand. Adds the source, “Many organisers are in talks with her as they want her to perform to the song. Some of them want to recreate the setting of the film on stage. She may also be carrying the same look from the film.”, Deepika’s schedule as of now, is completely packed with Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD), Kochadaiyaan and Chennai Express all lined up for 2013 releases. Currently, she is wrapping up the shoot of YJHD and the tentatively titled Ram Leela. With shoots lined up back-to-back, news about her having finalised any deal with the organisers is yet to surface.

While the actor remained unavailable for comment, her spokesperson says, “She has been approached to perform to ‘Angrezi beat’. However, Deepika still has to work out her dates.”

No show for Diana penty!
Diana Penty, who made her debut with Cocktail, was recently approached for her first stage act at an award event. She was asked to perform to ‘Tumhi ho bandhu and ‘Daaru desi’ and was apparently offered R40 lakh — the highest amount offered to any debutant for such an act.
The actor was keen on the deal, but she was contractually obligated to attend a brand event around the same time and therefore couldn’t go through with it.     —Shalvi Mangaokar
