Many filmmakers are postponing the release dates of their upcoming films to avoid a clash with other films at the box office and losing out on audiences.

The film, which is directed by Pakistani filmmaker Shoaib Mansoor, revolves around the web of relationships within a Lahore-based family that are barely able to make ends meet. This Eros International co-production, that stars singer Atif Aslam and Humaima Malick, was delayed due to multiple releases in the coming weeks. Confirming the same a source says, “The makers want the film to have a good showing and get maximum eyeballs. It is a film for niche audience and releasing it along with other movies will just not be of any help.”'

Initial release date: April 15 (Later, it was changed to May 20)
Now releasing on: June 10
The film, directed by Ankush Bhatt, is set in the infamous bylanes of Mumbai, where crime is a way of life. Confirming the films’ postponement, producer Karan Arora says, “Since the film is not star-studded, I want it to get its deserved audience. The main reason to push release date was the IPL as it gets all the media slots, and second is the rush of films releasing on May 20. There are around six films releasing and with all those films it won’t get its deserved space.”

Cycle Kick
Initial release date: May 20
Now releasing on: June 10
The story of two brothers, Ramu and his younger brother Deva, who one day repair a cycle that changes their lives swiftly. On postponing the film, producer Subhash Ghai says, “I didn’t want my small budget film to suffer because it is not released on the right date. For me it is important to release the film when there are no multiple releases or else who will watch it.”

Love Express
Initial release date: May 20
Now releasing on: June 10
Directed by debutant filmmaker Sunny Bhambhani, this Subhash Ghai production is a romantic comedy tracing the love stories of two couples in a train full of baraatis from Amritsar to Mumbai. Interestingly, most of the actors and technicians of the film are alumni of Ghai’s film school Whistling Woods.Ghai says, “I don’t want to kill my film by releasing it with other big releases. Moreover, I don’t want to compete with Salman Khan’s big budget Ready which is releasing on June 3.”

My Friend Pinto
Initial release date: June 17
Now releasing on: Yet to be announced
This Sanjay Leela Bhansali and UTV production, which stars Kalki Koelchin and Prateik Babbar, too has been postponed to avoid clashing with other films. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh explains, “Business hit an all-time low when 11 films released last week. I think My friend Pinto’s new date will be worked out so that it doesn’t clash with other films.”
