Detective Byomkesh Bakshy earns Rs 15.74 crore in 4 days
Dibakar Banerjee's Detective Byomkesh Bakshy continued its dull run at the box office on Sunday, earning just Rs 5.36 crore on the third day of its release.
Dibakar Banerjee's Detective Byomkesh Bakshy continued its dull run at the box office even on Monday, earning just Rs 1.68 crore on the 4th day of its release. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the film's business.
The film, starring Sushant Singh Rajput as Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's iconic detective Byomkesh Bakshi, had a disappointing opening with just Rs 4.2 crore collection at the ticket windows. The film was released in more than 1500 screens across India but it still managed only Rs 14.06 crore in two days. After earning Rs 4.5 crore on Saturday, Bakshy collections soared a bit on Sunday to Rs 5.36 crore.
Hollywood action franchise Fast and Furious 7, that hit theatres on April 2, is a big reason why Dibakar's movie is not performing too well at the box office. The Paul Walker-Vin Diesel-starrer movie made a record-breaking opening collection of Rs 23.75 crore in two days.
Fast and Furious 7 is also having a dream run at US box office: The film has earned $ 143.6 million over the first weekend.
