Dev Anand's Navketan steps into Hollywood

Vinay (Dev Anand) works with the police and impersonates Amar, his look-alike to crack his crime ring, but it seems that Amar has decided to impersonate Vinay too.

Navketan Films, the illustrious movie house which Dev Anand founded in 1949, has now hit a new milestone. It has just stepped into Hollywood with a co-production with Junix Entertainments, and has just wrapped up a 45-day shooting schedule of Vegator Mixer in Goa.

Shot in several of the scenic locales in Goa, Vegator Mixer still has a 15-day stint in Los Angeles. Directed by Suneil Anand, Dev’s son, the film has been scripted by Doug Popovich and Roland Minez. Interestingly, Suneil, who has had a rather unsuccessful career till now, also stars in Vegator Mixer along with a line up Hollywood actors.

Deen Bakshi, President of Junix Entertainments, said that Vegator Mixer would be a “unique blend of high intensity romance and martial arts action aimed at the North American and World markets”.

Navketan made some fascinating movies in the course of its long history that included Baazi, Hum Dono, Tere Ghar Ke Samne, Guide, Jewel Thief, Tere Mera Sapne, Hare Rama Hare Krishna and so on.

Dev acted in all these films, captivating audiences with his impeccable style, catchy dialogue delivery and singularly classy costumes. Remember the hat in Jewel Thief or the scarf in Hare Rama Hare Krishna! Well, that was Dev, whose suave good looks were comparable with those of Gregory Peck and Cary Grant. And above all, Dev was a perfect gentleman.
