Dhanush has established himself as an actor down south, and is steadily trying to make a mark in the Hindi film industry too. Although he has been acting in south films for more than a decade, and has also produced a couple of movies there in the last two years, it seems he is interested in producing Bollywood films now.
The actor made his Hindi film acting debut with Raanjhanaa (2013), and will next be seen in Shamitabh, alongside Amitabh Bachchan. He admits that he is in the process of learning more about it. Apart from acting, he wants to hone his skills as a producer too.
“Producing Hindi films is on my agenda. But since I am new to this industry, I wantto learn more about its functioning, and then venture into it (production),” says Dhanush.
The actor adds that he wants to understand the taste of the audience and make the kind of films that people like. “I know what kinds of films work in the south, so I produced films there. So, getting into production won’t be a new thing for me. But since this is a different industry, I want to know what films people appreciate here and would love to watch,” says Dhanush, adding, “I need to know the pulse of the audience. It is very important to learn about the economics of an industry before turning into a producer. I will produce a Hindi film only when I am completely confident.”
