Bollywood fans and critics alike are going gaga over Diljit Dosanjh’s performance in his Bollywood debut, Udta Punjab. Diljit, will soon be seen opposite Anushka Sharma in her next production Phillauri. Reports now claim that buoyed by all the success, Diljit raised his fee to such a level that makers of Ajay Devgn-starrer Badshaaho had to drop him from the film.
A DNA report on Monday claimed Emraan Hashmi has replaced Diljit in Milan Luthria’s Baadshaho, a film inspired by real-life events during the Emergency. Ajay Devgn plays a thief and Vidyut Jammwal plays an undercover cop in the movie. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan steps into a character inspired by Maharani Gayatri Devi and Emraan will play an army officer.
“Diljit showed interest in the role of the army officer but then, at the time of signing the contract, he quoted a fabulous sum as his fee. Actors use the big fat fee excuse to worm their way out of films. After Udta Punjab, he only wants to do meaty roles in Hindi films. In his next Phillauri, he will woo Anushka Sharma. Diljit now feels it’s better to go with solo leads rather than risk being lost in the big cast,” the report quoted a source as saying.
