Dream Girl box office collection day 3: Ayushmann Khurrana film earns Rs 44 crore, Chhichhore nears Rs 100 crore mark

Dream Girl box office first weekend: The film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha has collected Rs 44 crore in three days.

Dream Girl, starring Ayushmann Khurrana in a quirky role, witnessed a wonderful response at the box office in its first weekend. The film is estimated to have collected Rs 44.57 crore in three days of its release.

The film collected Rs 18.10 crore on Sunday. After opening at a whopping Rs 10.05 crore, it had shown a growth of around 63% on Saturday with collections of Rs 16.42 crore.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office figures of the film on Twitter. “DreamGirl runs riot at the BO... Packs a fantastic total, setting the BO on fire. Day 2 and 3... Trends better than Raazi [Rs 32.94 cr], Stree [Rs 32.27 cr] and Uri [Rs 35.73 cr]... Fri 10.05 cr, Sat 16.42 cr, Sun 18.10 cr. Total: Rs 44.57 cr. India biz,” he tweeted.

 

The film stars Nushrat Bharucha as the female lead along with Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Nidhi Bisht, Vijay Raaz and others. The film is Ayushmann and Nushrat’s highest opener and has recorded the best weekend when compared to their earlier hit films. It is Ayushmann’s second hit of the year after his last film Article 15 collected Rs 65.45 crore at the domestic box office.

In Dream Girl, Ayushmann plays a man who works at a hotline where he talks to his clients in a woman’s voice. He lands in a tricky situation when many of his customers fall in love with his hotline persona.

The release of Dream Girl also coincided with the release of Richa Chadha and Akshaye Khanna’s film, Article 375. The film showed a little growth on Sunday with a collection of Rs 3.52 crore. It has collected Rs 8 crore in three days.

 

Dream Girl is also competing with Nitesh Tiwari’s multi-starrer drama Chhichhore which continues to remain steady even after its second weekend. The film is a hit and is nearing the Rs 100 crore mark.

Sharing the Sunday collections of the film, Taran wrote on Twitter, “Chhichhore refuses to slow down... Weekend 2 was extremely crucial since it faced a new, tough opponent [DreamGirl], but the incredible biz clearly indicates it has cast a spell at the BO... [Week 2] Fri 5.34 cr, Sat 9.42 cr, Sun 10.47 cr. Total: Rs 94.06 cr. India biz.”

 

Chhichhore boasts of an ensemble cast of Shraddha Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput, Varun Sharma, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Prateik Babbar, Tushar Pandey and Naveen Polishetty.
