The critical and commercial success of Drishyam has made Ajay Devgn happy. Drishyam, also starring Tabu and Shriya Saran and directed by Nishikant Kamat, released on Friday, July 31 and has already collected Rs 34.08 crore within four days of the release.
Though Ajay Devgn’s latest film didn’t get a great start at the box office, the business has picked up now. Incidentally, the actor had earlier told us, "The film is such that it won’t open big, but will pick up slowly with word of mouth."
Ask Ajay if he keeps a tab on the collections that other actors’ films make throughout the year, and he says, "That is business, right? You need to be aware of the kinds of films that are working. It’s important to know the extent to which word of mouth or promotional activities affect a film’s performance. At the end of the day, you are in the industry, and you need to be aware about the business as an actor or as a producer."
The collections are expected to pick up this week owing to good word of mouth. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the film's business.

"Very satisfied with the response that Drishyam is getting, one of the rare films that gets you collections as well as respect as an actor," Ajay tweeted.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also praised the film.

It is a remake of a 2013 Malayalam film of the same name, which starred Mohanlal and Meena.
