There’s no disputing that Salman Khan is a hero of the masses. People want to talk like him, dress like him and even hang aviator shades from the back of their shirt collars just to look like Sallu
And Salman knows that in spite of house-full multiplexes, his primary audience still flocks to see his films in standalone theatres.
Now, with Ek Tha Tiger, Salman has decided to give back to single-screen cinema halls. Along with producers Yash Raj Films, he has decided to show the first song of Ek Tha Tiger to all single-screen ushers ahead of its public release.
“Salman has always been considered the king of single screens and a hero of the masses. So the idea is to have the single-screen staff watch Salman’s song first and get their reactions. The decision was jointly taken by Salman and the Yash Raj marketing team,” says an insider.
“Now, of course, he is a big star across the board. But he knows how much the masses have loved and appreciated his films in the past,” adds the insider. “Plus, ushers at single-screens truly understand the audience’s pulse. People also tend to check with them about a film. So their reaction will give us a heads up about the film.”
The filmmakers are still deciding upon which song to release first. “The first track showcases Salman and co-star Katrina Kaif in a dance number. It is likely to be shown to ushers at Gaiety theatre in Bandra on coming Thursday. We aren’t sure yet if bhai will also be present at the screening,” says the insider.
Although the filmmakers remain tight-lipped about this plan, the official spokesperson confirms, “We are planning to have a special screening of the song for single-screen ushers. But the rest of the details are being finalised as we speak.”
The film is being directed by Kabir Khan and will release on August 15.
