She has consistently been hitting the bullseye at the boxoffice with her out-of-the-box films such as Love Sex Aur Dhoka (2010) and Ragini MMS (2011). In her latest move, producer Ekta Kapoor has decided to join hands with Shaitan (2011) maker Bejoy Nambiar to co-produce a film, which is funnily titled, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi.
“It’s a very quirky and fun film on the lines of Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006) and Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008), but it has a soul of it’s own. We are sure fans will be surprised to see such a film from Ekta’s company. When she heard the script for the first time, she just couldn’t stop laughing and she instantly decided to go ahead with it,” says an insider close to the film’s development.
“It’s set in Delhi and will take audiences on a mad, funny trip. Besides the story, Ekta has also been impressed with Bejoy’s style of filmmaking,” adds the insider. Although the makers are mum about the film, we have found that the shooting is already underway in and around Delhi. “If all goes well, the film will release on February 22,” adds the insider. Apparently, Ekta wants to release the film in February, because after that her three next big co-productions — Lootera, Ek Thi Daayan and Shootout At Wadala are likely to come out — March, April and May respectively.
Directed by ad filmmaker Aman Sachdeva, the film will see new faces in the cast. Although Ekta remained unavailable for a comment, Tanuj Garg (CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures) confirms that the film is underway: “It’s a very different kind of film from our production house. We are sure audiences will love the quirky tale. It will star mostly newcomers.”
