Once again, producer Ekta Kapoor is at loggerheads with the Censors Board of Film Certification. After her last production, The Dirty Picture (2011), was denied permission to air on TV, the board has now banned an adult promo of her next, Kya Super Kool Hain Hum. It cannot be telecast on TV and even on the big screen.
To deal with the situation, the producer has uploaded the trailer on the Internet.
“Our A-rated trailer has got a rejection from the censors. We were looking for a U/A certificate, but since that couldn’t be achieved, we have put it on the net. The promo is funny, but not cheap at all,” says Ekta, who was in Delhi on Monday to launch the trailer.
However, Ekta plans to meet the Censor Board officials personally to explain her stance.
“It shouldn’t be taken so seriously. Are we moving ahead or are our thoughts regressing? But I will take things with a pinch of salt and hope that enough people watch it online,” she says.
Ask her about her ongoing tussle with the Censor Board and she laughs, before saying, “I think I am always in the firing line, but I will keep fighting. They should understand that the world has changed and grown tremendously. People have open minds and are comfortable with sex.”
