Of late, trade has been abuzz with talk of filmmaker Karan Johar signing up Emraan Hashmi for Rensil D’Silva’s next. Although neither Karan nor Emraan confirmed the casting, industry insiders insist the deal has been finalised.
Now, the twist in the tale is that Rensil’s film, which was to start rolling by the last quarter of 2012, has been delayed. As a result, Ghanchakkar will go on the floors first, since Emraan has now given a bulk of his dates to the UTV production, which will be helmed by No One Killed Jessica (2011) director, Rajkumar Gupta.
“After wrapping up Raaz 3, Emraan was yet to take a call on which film to start first — Rensil’s or Ghanchakkar. But now that the Dharma Productions film has been pushed back due to internal issues, he will start on Ghanchakkar and wrap up the project in a start-to-finish schedule,” says an insider close to Emraan.
“Emraan has now finalised his dates for our film. We will start shooting with him and Vidya from September 1 onwards. The filming is expected to finish by December,” confirms Manish Hariprasad, UTV creative head on Ghanchakkar. In the film, Emraan and Vidya will be seen in comic avatars.
The Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai (2010) actor, has been shooting for all his films on a back-to-back basis. After wrapping up Jannat 2, Emraan started shooting for Raaz 3. He is also believed to have bagged Yash Raj Films’ next, which will be directed by Badmaash Company (2010) director Parmeet Sethi. Emraan, who was once looked upon as being favoured by the Bhatt camp only, is finishing work on the third part of the Raaz series with Bipasha Basu.
