Emraan Hashmi, who is celebrating his birthday today (March 24), will take the day off, and his only plan is to speak to his wife and son, who are in Canada.
The actor, who is currently shooting for a film that’s being helmed by Kunal Deshmukh, was given the day off by the director. A source close to
says, “He wasn’t expecting a holiday, and he planned to work on his birthday, but now, all he plans to do is Skype with his wife and son. He will celebrate his birthday with his family over the Internet.”
Emraan’s son, Ayaan, was diagnosed with cancer recently, and has finished his treatment in Canada with mother Parveen by his side. The actor, who didn’t want to put pressure on his producers and let his work get affected by the personal crisis, returned to India early and reported on the sets immediately.
Kunal, who is working on his third film with the actor, knew that his friend would never ask for a holiday, so he decided to give him one. “Knowing Emraan, I was sure he would land up on the sets even on his birthday, which I didn’t want. I gave him the day off so he could spend it speaking to his family instead of working,” says the director.
Emraan's next postponed
Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming film, which is being produced by Karan Johar’s banner, has been postponed at the behest of Sajid Nadiadwala. Apparently, the latter wanted May 23 — the release date of Emraan’s film — to release his production, that marks the debut of Jackie Shroff’s son, Tiger.
Since Karan and Sajid are friends (they are even coproducing an upcoming Arjun Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer), Karan didn’t need much convincing. Sajid’s film was to release on May 16, but due to some pending work, the date had to be postponed by a week, which led to the clash with Karan’s film, directed by Rensil D’Silva.
When contacted, Apoorva Mehta, the CEO of Karan’s banner, confirms the news, saying, “Sajid mentioned to us that he would like to lock May 23 if we are not using that date. Since our music is not ready, as soon as we decided that we won’t be able to keep the date, we informed him. He was keen on using it.” Sajid also confirmed the news, saying, “It’s true.”
This is the second time that the film is being postponed. Earlier, it was delayed when Shahid Kapoor had requested a date change so that his film, Phata Poster Nikhla Hero (2013), could get a solo release. Apart from Emraan, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Kangana Ranaut and Neha Dhupia.
