Actor Emraan Hashmi launched the trailer of his upcoming film Shanghai, with the rest of the cast, on Wednesday, in Mumbai. The launch, which was supposed to happen on April 5, was delayed for a week. The delay, according to sources from the film’s unit, happened because Hashmi’s dates are being controlled by the Bhatts (producers Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt) who are working with the actor on Raaz 3 and Jannat 2.
“The Bhatts are controlling Hashmi’s dates. He had earlier agreed to the trailer launch on the April 5, but later sent a message from his manager saying he couldn’t. Since the music launch of Jannat 2 was happening around April 5, they (Bhatts) made him delay our launch,” says the source.
“I was heart broken that we were not able to kick off the promotion with the trailer launch. We went through hell getting Abhay and Emraan’s combination dates and then getting it changed all over again. But I guess if I was the producer of Jannat 2, I would do exactly the same,” says Dibakar Banerjee, director, Shanghai. “They want to publicise their film through Jannat 2. They want to ride on its wave,” says Mukesh Bhatt.
