Choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan cannot believe she has been handpicked as one of the 100 most promising emerging new directorial talent in the world in a film anthology titled ‘Take 100: The Future Of Film: 100 New Directors’. “I am just too happy. In our country, we don’t value talent until it gets endorsed from the outside,” Farah said.
“I didn’t even know about this until (film critic) Khalid Mohammad told me. Can you imagine, if he hadn’t told me I would’ve never known! It’s such an honour because I’m the only Indian director among the 100 who have been chosen.” She said it was not a small thing because the filmmakers have been chosen by the 10 well-known film-festival directors from across the world.
“Cameron Bailey of the Toronto Film Festival selected my film Om Shanti Om,” she said. And what did filmmaker Karan Johar have to say about this feat? Farah said: “Yeah Karan wanted to know if Shirish Kunder (Farah’s husband) wrote this book.”
