Ever since the Farhan Akhtar-starrer, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (BMB) released last month, the actor and director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra have been receiving accolades for the ambitious project. And with the movie now having entered the much-coveted Rs100 crore club, the two have another reason to celebrate. Besides this, Farhan and Rakeysh are elated as they have received a special honour from the National Sports Club of India (NSCI).
A source close to the actor reveals, “The film’s team has been receiving praise for their efforts. Now it is the NSCI, who has invited the star of the film Farhan and Rakeysh to acknowledge and honour them for this biopic. The sports authorities were keen on felicitating the team. On Saturday (August 3), they even gave them a certificate of acknowledgement and a medal to appreciate the way they’ve portrayed Olympian Milkha Singh in the film. This was since the officials felt that many more people are aware of Singh and his achievements after the film.”
When contacted, Rakeysh confirms this development, saying, “When various segments especially those like the sports authorities, embrace and appreciate your work — you know the film has gone beyond just being a movie at the box office. You know that that it has found a place in people’s hearts.”
