The film is now wrapped up, and is set to release on November 28.

The entire team of Bombay Velvet got emotional on the last day of the shoot. The makers ordered a special cake, that had the film’s release date ­written on it. They also came up with a novel ­marketing idea to make sure that the fans remember the film’s release date, as they teased it with a question — ‘what’s ­happening on November 28?’ — on the internet. The film’s wrap party had the actors, cast and crew walking in wearing special November 28 T-shirts.

“It’s been an exciting 10 months on the sets with such good actors and a hard-working crew,” said Kashyap.

Karan Johar, a reluctant actor, will also make an appearance in the film. "My father thought I should be an actor... I didn't...thank you Anurag Kashyap for fulfilling my dad's wish...just wrapped #BombayVelvet!!!" he tweeted.

Bombay Velvet is based on historian Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables, a story of how the city of Mumbai became a metropolis against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and jazz music.

The film will feature and Anushka Sharma in lead roles while Karan Johar will play the villain. Raveena Tandon, Kay Kay Menon and Siddharth Basu will also be seen in key roles.
