Shahid Kapoor has been in the experimentation mode of late, sharing results of his look tests for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon on social media. Now that his look for the film has been finalised, Shahid revealed the final result of all the hard work on Twitter Thursday.
Shahid Kapoor, who is currently shooting for Udta Punjab, sports a moustache and is seen in a soldier’s uniform in the picture. Sharing the first look on his Instagram account, the actor wrote, “Now that it’s out I guess I can post it #rangoon.”’
Rangoon also features Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles. Reports claim that Irrfan Khan will also make a cameo appearance in the film. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, Rangoon is a period saga set during World War II. The film is slated to go on floors early in 2016.
Rumours earlier claimed that Rangoon is based on Casablanca (Michael Curtiz’s iconic 1942 film) but Vishal Bhardwaj recently said, ““I never said Rangoon was inspired by Casablanca, but it was from the same period and during World War II. It was also a love triangle. I thought of it as a reference but now it is getting tagged with it. It’s good if people are thinking in that way.”
Elaborating on the storyline for his next, the director added, “It is a love story based in the 1940s in the backdrop of World War II. In history very few people know that India was also involved in the war. On the Burma border, the British Indian army was fighting against Subhash Chandra Bose’s INA (Indian National Army), who were then with Japanese army and Indians were killing Indians at the Burma border.”
