From stalking men to forced bromance, Bollywood, it seems, threw away its creativity cap for much of 2014. Here are 5 trends every filmmaker tried to cash in on this year. No, their popularity was no measure of the depths to which imagination stooped to this year in the film industry.

Stalking lovers

Men stalking women is an idea no woman would be comfortable with and no man should be okay with. Period! Sadly, our film industry seemed to have made a virtue of it. From Alia Bhatt-Arjun Kapoor-starrer 2 States to Varun Dhawan's Main Tera Hero, the 'heroes' of our films just didn't stop harassing their lady love in the name of wooing, not until the women agreed to be with them. With Prabhudheva's latest Action Jackson, morality took another massive nose-dive. This time, we had Sonakshi Sinha stalking Ajay Devgn: She "wants" to see him nude, just so that she could get married!

Unrealistic action sequences

Tamil and Telugu cinema may be much ahead when it comes to mesmerizing the audience with awe-inspiring action sequences but Bollywood isn't far behind. Cars can take any number of somersaults and blood can defy all sorts of gravitational forces when a villain is hit by the hero. Such is the charisma of our heroes. Salman Khan's Kick and Ajay Devgn's Action Jackson are some 'hit' examples from 2014.

Random sex quotient

Cast Sunny Leone in your film for a raunchy role is one thing and getting her dance to a song that has no relation to the storyline is a totally different thing. Leone's hit song Pink Lips was perhaps the most weirdly placed song ever. It interrupts the narrative of Hate Story 2 and doesn't even provide much respite! Honey Singh-Himesh Reshammiya-starrer The Xpose was another movie that uselessly harped on the sex quotient of Sonali Raut, currently a contestant of the reality show Bigg Boss 8.

Forced bromance

Bromance isn't new in Bollywood. We've had Dostana (Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha), Namak Haram (Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna) and of course, Sholay (Dharmendra, Amitabh) but the equation between the male leads was never over-the-top. With Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor attempting the new-age Jai Veeru, things have changed on the silver screen.

Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor never shy from flaunting their bromance even when not shooting for a film.

Be it Priyanka Chopra-starrer Gunday or Parineeti Chopra and Govinda's Kill Dil (with Ali Zafar), Ranveer tried real hard to put-up a fake bromance onscreen.

Sonam Kapoor

She is a fashion icon but this Kapoor girl simply does not know her skills. This year, we saw a little too much of Sonam, with big production houses banking hugely on her, only to produce duds like Bewakoofiyaan and Khoobsurat. Both the films lacked an entertaining screenplay and Sonam's 'acting' did not really help. Nonetheless, the producers in our industry do not care and Arbaaz Khan is set to present the fashionista in yet another film riding on her back -- Dolly Ki Doli. The film hits theatres in January.
