Director Rohit Shetty, who has shot a majority of his films in Goa, is set to be honoured by the state at the International Film Festival of India on Friday. He is being recognised for showing Goa in a good light in his movies.
"Rohit first received a call from the chief minister of Goa, who invited him to the ceremony. Then a couple of days ago, he also received an official letter regarding the same," says an insider close to him. The director will reach Goa for the event on Friday.
Apart from the Golmaal trilogy, Rohit has also shot Ajay Devgn’s Singham (2011) and Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express in Goa.
"He has always felt a special connect with the place. Probably what’s why almost all his films, except Bol Bachchan (2012), have either been shot there entirely or in parts," adds the insider. Despite repeated attempts, Rohit couldn’t be reached for a comment.
