Priyanka Chopra and Sunny Leone, who are both set to turn producers, talk about their individual projects, and what they are looking forward to.
Producing a film is a natural progression: Sunny Leone
Ever since she made her Bollywood acting debut in 2012 with Jism 2, Sunny Leone has been in the spotlight. Now, the actor plans to test new waters by turning producer. “Producing a film is a natural progression for Daniel (Weber; husband) and me. Is it going to happen immediately? Probably not. There’s a lot to learn [about the craft] before we start off,” says Sunny.
The actor, along with her husband, already owns a production house in Los Angeles, USA. But apparently, they will launch a new company for their production house that will make Bollywood films. But before taking the plunge, Sunny apparently wants to get a good team of people on board, who would be part of her production house.
“I believe in finding he right set of people who we can trust. When you make a film, you want to have a team that can work together,” she says.
I am working on a bunch of story ideas: Priyanka Chopra
After spending 12 years in Bollywood as an actor, Priyanka Chopra is set to turn producer now. Although her debut project, which was supposed to be directed by film-maker Madhur Bhandarkar, hasn’t taken off, Priyanka has still not lost hope.
“It’s very unfortunate. I love Madamji (her debut production), and it’s a story that needs to be told. I hope I will be able to make it at some point. In the meantime, because of my obeisance [towards production], I amproducing, or rather working on, a bunch of story ideas,” says Priyanka.
The actor insists that she loves the script of her first production. “Right now, there is a time constraint. So, I can’t do the film, along with my other commitments. It just kept going back-and-forth, and then, I got busy, and Madhur, too, got caught up with Calendar Girls. But I am dying to work with him,”she says.
Interestingly, talks were rife that Priyanka might also produce a film for her cousin, Parineeti Chopra. But the actor laughs it off, saying, “I don’t know where such rumours come from. We haven’t approached even a single actor. As of now, we are still working on the script that we would like to make. So, how can we approach anyone?”
