Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's production house Excel Entertainment achieved a rare distinction recently when a special case study featuring the company was created by the reputed Harvard Business School (HBS). Excel Entertainment thus becomes the first ever Indian film company to have its own case study created by HBS.

Ritesh Sidhwani had delivered a key-note panel discussion at HBS in March 2012 which gave them a good insight on the basis of which they decided to create a case study on Excel Entertainment. HBS case studies are extremely popular and used for class discussion in a variety of educational institutions running management programs.

Mrs Mukti Khaire, the Associate Professor at the HBS, flew down from Boston for a week and was the faculty lead on the case. Mrs Khaire worked closely with Namrata Arora- the Associate Director of the Harvard University South Asia Initiative- during the case-writing process on Excel Entertainment. As part of their research they did extensive interviews with Ritesh, Farhan and a lot of key members of the Excel team.

The Case study on Excel Entertainment will be taught to the second year MBA students at HBS in Jan-Feb 2013. HBS case studies are also put on the Harvard Business Publishing website for professors across the world to purchase and teach in their respective universities.
