Huma Qureshi’s RAW appeal in D-Day

Making a debut with an off-beat film like Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012), helped Huma Qureshi establish herself as a character actor and not just another glam doll. Now, in Nikhil Advani’s upcoming film, D-Day, the actor will be seen playing the role of a RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) agent.

And what’s more, Huma has been going through various training sessions with Hollywood stunt directors Tom Struthers and John Street to get the nuances of her character right. “It was imperative to familiarise Huma with the finer details of the training of a RAW agent. It will bring out a sense of authenticity to her character,” says Nikhil. While it was difficult to get through the commando training session, Huma insists it helped her understand the traits of a real intelligence officer.

“The regimen brought out the demeanor of a RAW agent each time I held a gun on the sets,” says the actor. Based on the 1993 Mumbai blasts, D-Day revolves around a RAW agent who is assigned the responsibility of bringing Dawood Ibrahim back to India from Pakistan. Actors Irrfan, Rishi Kapoor and Arjun Rampal have pivotal roles in the film.
