The Bhatts are well on their way to recreating the magic of their 1990 musical love story, Aashiqui, which was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. Now, brother Mukesh reveals that the music for the sequel, composed by Jeet Ganguly, has been locked, saying, “Jeet has given excellent music. I’m sure he will be one of the best music directors of the country in no time.”

For the sequel to the Rahul Roy-Anu Agarwal starrer, the Bhatts have coined a unique strategy to find a fresh lead pair. Aspiring actors can post their videos on Youtube to participate in the Aashiqui 2 Star Hunt contest. Mukesh says, “Entries are coming in from across the world. This is a great platform for two youngsters hidden under a coat (just like the original film’s poster) to rediscover Aashiqui’s magic. Our banner, Vishesh Films, takes pride in not only making films, but also making destinies.”

The film, directed by Mohit Suri, will go on the floors by year-end. The banner, which is soon completing 25 years, is heavily relying on sequels of their hit franchises — Jannat 2, , Aashiqui 2, Raaz 3 and Jism 2. Mukesh says, “I work with franchises that I’ve created. They are like stars for me.”

Ask him why, if he claims to be committed to launching fresh talent, Emraan Hashmi is a constant figure in his films and he quips, “Because he is a star now and is family to us. But the day he starts behaving like a star, I will kick him out.”
