After a hiatus of almost two-years, actor Ayesha Takia Azmi will light up the big screen again with filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor’s Mod. The 25-year-old, who took a break post her marriage to restaurateur Farhan Azmi, says she “utilised that time by sitting and enjoying things outside the glamour industry”.
Rejuvenated and raring to prove her mettle once again, the actor is quite kicked up about her comeback film. She feels a great comfort level with Kukunoor, who had directed her in Dor (2006). “Nagesh is my favourite director. I understand his style of working and sensibilities now. He is a realistic filmmaker,” she says. The actor, who recently visited the Capital, gets chatty with us about her personal and professional life.On Mod
The film has come at the right mod (turning point) in my life. It is the first movie that I shot after I got married in 2009. It is a very sweet love story
On her journey so far
I live life on my own terms and there are no regrets. I never had any strategy as an actor. I always believed in what excited me and went ahead with my instinct.
On her character
I play Aranya, a simple yet independent small town girl, who works in a clock repair store. She meets Andy (Rannvijay Singh) and falls in love with him.
On being entrepreneur
My husband and I are giving finishing touch to our new property that is being converted into a boutique hotel in Goa. I’m enjoying being a business woman.
On getting married
People thought I was insane to get married so early in my life. I’m not ambitious and don’t believe in planning my life. I even took a break after my marriage
On fashion designing
I love dressing up and starting my own fashion line is surely something that I want to do soon. But my plate is full and let’s see when I can get down to do it
