Priyanka Chopra, who is often seen shuttling between LA and Mumbai these days-either to shoot a song or promote one- is now exploring new opportunities in Hollywood. And though the actor-singer says that she isn’t ignoring her Bollywood career, Priyanka chooses to evade all questions about her next release, the Zanjeer remake. Excerpts:
Since you are spending a lot of time in Los Angeles these days, will we see you in Hollywood films as a singer-actor soon?
That’s not true. I go where my work takes me. In fact, this was the longest trip I made to the US this year. But it was required since I had just launched ‘Exotic’, which was my debut US single. I am open to new opportunities and am greedy to explore new avenues where I can grow as an artiste. I am exploring various opportunities and will announce them as soon as they are finalised.
You are increasingly getting into the international music arena. Are you giving some serious thought on making it your alternative career?
I have been fortunate to have been given such an amazing platform to launch my music career internationally. I don’t see this as a second career or a career switch. I love making movies and music equally and currently, I am blessed that I am able to do both at the same time. It just leaves me with a little less time to sleep (laughs). Fortunately, I have not been asked to make a choice. After all, women are known to be amazing multi-taskers.
What’s keeping you busy in LA these days?
It was a whirlwind month. I was in the US to promote my latest single and my first Disney animation film, Planes. From LA to Miami and from New York to Vegas, it was an exciting month with a variety of events and activities at various nightclubs across the US and also becoming a Grand Marshal for the India Day Parade in LA, among other things. I had the pleasure to do the coin toss for a few matches of the Guinness Championship Cup, which was a soccer tournament featuring some of the best teams from across the world. I also attended the red carpet premiere of Planes in which I have voiced for the character Ishani.
Are you in talks for your second album?
I haven’t even launched the first album yet. We have only released three tracks so far. My first album is slated for a release early next year, so I still have a lot to do before I can think of a second album.
