Bipasha Basu says she’s not one to fall for feel-good comedy which is a safe sanctuary for most female actors in Bollywood. She’d rather experiment with dark films even if there are very few such projects.
“There are people who are doing just that (comedies). Many of those films are successful, but no one is asking them why they are doing only slapstick comedies. I have done five supernatural films (in the past) and the rest of my life, I have done all genres,” says the 35-year-old actor.

She says she is happy promoting the genre of supernatural films in India. “At the end of the day, I am getting interesting roles. I am pushing a genre which is relatively new. It is better than doing the same thing for years. If I am doing like five supernatural films, then it’s better than doing 40 slapstick films one after the other. So, I take it as a compliment. As long as I can make money at the box office and entertain people, they can say what they want to say. It’s all positive from my side,” says Bips, who has been seen in horror films such as Creature 3D, Aatma (2013) and Raaz 3 (2013).

The 35-year-old says that she agrees to act in a film because of the story and not the genre. “It is the story. I don’t choose the film because it is the supernatural genre ... it is strange that every film and character that I like belongs to the fear genre,” she says.
