Contrary to rumours that actor Sameera Reddy badly wanted to do the item song Laila, performed by actor Mallika Sherawat, in her upcoming film Tezz, the actor says that she is instead more excited about her stunts in the movie.
“I am one of the boys in the film, and I am doing all the stunts myself for the first time in my life. As I play one of the hijackers with my co-actors Ajay Devgn and Zayed Khan, the director (Priyadarshan) wanted that the audience should see me doing the stunts for real, instead of using a body double. I feel like Lara Croft after all the stunts,” says Reddy, who was in the Capital for the launch of film’s music.
The daredevil stunts seem to have worked in the 29-year-old actor’s favour. “When I began shooting, I only knew how to ride a Kinetic scooter. But thanks to the four-month training by my action director Gareth Milne, I can now ride everything, from a bike to a chopper, on my own,” she says.
“My toughest stunt was when I had to jump into 2°C water in Scotland during winters and remain submerged under the river holding weights. We repeated the shot four times and by the time I came out my brain felt frozen. I had to take a day off. My dad is still angry with me for doing such crazy stuff,” she adds.
So is she upset about not being part of Race 2? “Usually in a sequel the actresses are not repeated, so I had no such expectation,” she says. After doing three films with actor Anil Kapoor, who also stars in Tezz, Reddy considers him as her lucky charm and hopes his charm will work in the upcoming film too.
However, the actor feels that “her best role till date” is in filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor’s yet-to-be-released film Yeh Hausla.
